I want to
thank everyone that attended the conference this year. They are getting better and better with each of your help and support.
I do want to remind everyone that our quaterly meeting will be at the Montgomery Holiday Inn East. It will be after
the training that we are having that morning on Meth Labs. It looks as if we are going to have a great turnout for the class.
I hope that everyone who attends the class will stay for the business meeting.
There is so
much that has happened to our organization in the last few months. First of all, Richard Holt with Limestone County 911 passed away. He was a past President with
Alabama Apco and still a member of the standards commitee. He will be missed.
Then on July
22, we lost a dear member and friend. Jo Tranter passed away after a brief illness. She was the operations manager at Limestone
County 911. She was only 56 years of age. She is survived by her huband,David, three children,Greg,Ken, and Heather, two brothers,
four sisters and six grandchildren. Jo was such an intricate part of both APCO and NENA. During her tenure with APCO she was
on the conference commitee and she planned all of the wonderful training sessions that we all have attended. She was also
the chairman of the Minimum Standards board and many other committees. She was also very involved with the NENA organization.
She was their conference chairman and on many other committees. Bill Brodeur,President of the Alabama NENA organization states
that Jo was a very special person and she was always the first to volunteer for assigments.
Jo will be
missed by so many. She has left a huge void in my life as well as others. All that knew her knows that she will be missed.
Our hearts and prayers go out to her family and friends.
